Animal Tissue and Organs - Last hour quick revision (with easy mnemonics)
Animal Tissue - Last hour quick revision (Tissue and organs)
▶Histology = Study of tissue
▶Marcello Malpighi = Founder of histology
▶Mayer = Coined the term histology
▶Bichat = Coined the term tissue, father of histology.
▶There are Four types of animal tissue. They are:
1) Epithelial tissue:-
- Covering epithelium
- Glandular epithelium
- Skeletal tissue
- Vascular tissue
3) Muscular tissue:-
- Skeletal muscle
- Smooth muscle
- Cardiac muscle
- Neuroglial cells
- Neurons
▶There are seven types of epithelium tissue. They are:-
- Simple squamous epithelium
- Simple cuboidal epithelium
- Non ciliated simple columnar epithelium
- Pseudostratified epithelium
- Keratinized stratified squamous epithelium
- Non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium
- Transitional epithelium
▶Most abundant type of tissue in human body is connective tissue.
▶Connective tissue are mesodermal in origin.
▶Blood, lymph, skeleton and muscles are derived from mesoderm.
▶Adipose tissue is modified for fat storage.
▶Mast cells are modified basophils of blood.
▶Mast cells secrate heparin, histamin and serotonin.(@H2S)
▶Tendon connects bone to muscle.
▶Ligament connects bone to bone. (@BoMTe BoBLi)
▶Hyaline cartilage is the most abundant cartilage.
▶Fibro cartilage is the strongest cartilage.
▶Osteology is the study of bone.
▶Myology is the study of muscle.
▶Periosteum is the outer covering of bone
▶Haversian system is present only in mammal's bone.
▶RBC of mammal is round, biconcave, non-nucleated.
▶RBC is formed in bone marrow.
▶RBC is destroyed in spleen (Graveyard of RBC).
▶Neutrophils is the most abundant type of WBC cell.
▶Monocyte is the largest type of WBC cell.
▶Lymphocyte is the smallest type of WBC cell.
▶Mnemonics for types of WBC Cells:- CLICK HERE.
▶Blood without RBC is called Lymph.
▶Blood plasma without fibrinogen is called serum.
▶Cardiac muscle is striated and involuntary.
▶Visceral muscle is non-striated and involuntary.
▶Skeletal muscle is striated and voluntary.
▶Cardiac muscle are immune to fatigue.
▶Total number of bone in adult human body is 206.
▶Total number of muscle in adult human body is 639.
▶ Strongest muscle of human body is masseter and is present in mouth.
▶Longest muscle of human body is sartorius which and is present in lower limb.
▶Largest muscle of human body is Gluteus maximus and is present in buttock.
▶Smallest muscle of human body is Stapedius and is attached to the smallest bone stapes in ear.
▶Nervous tissue originates from ectoderm(but microglia and meninges are from mesoderm).
▶Structural and functional unit of the nervous system is Neuron.
▶Longest cell of human body is Neuron.
▶Least power of regeneration is present in neurons due to the absence of centrioles.
▶Nissl's granules are present in neuron.
▶Constrictions present in the axon is called as Node of Ranvier.
